Thrive Youth Center is a non-profit organization that serves the LGBTQ+ youth experiencing homelessness throughout San Antonio.
Our Mission is to provide LGBTQ+ youth experiencing homelessness with a safe and supportive environment to facilitate their empowerment toward transforming their lives.
At Thrive Youth Center, we are more than a shelter. In addition to emergency shelter for youth coming directly off the streets, we provide:
- Case Management
- Benefits Assistance
- Counseling
- Career Counseling and Guidance
- Life Skills Assistance
- Education Support
- Rapid Re-Housing
- Mental Health Referrals
While LGBTQ+ youth experiencing homelessness have similar needs to their non-LGBTQ+ peers, they also have additional unique needs specific to their identities.
Many of our youth experiencing homelessness report the following needs:
- Safe and Secure Housing
- Identity-Related Support and Counseling
- Transition-Related Supports, including:
- Access to Legal Support
- Name/Gender Marker Change
- Access to Transgender Specific Healthcare
- Access to Hormones and Support through Transition Care
- Emotional Support and Guidance
- A supportive community of peers
- Gender Closet
